Meet the newest member of Friends' Garage! -

Well, it was bound to happen. A wagon was
destined for Friends' Garage. There was always a station wagon around growing up. In the
60's, it was a Ford Country Squire wagon. In the 70's, it was a Plymouth Fury
wagon. In the 80's, it was a Chevy Caprice wagon. I guess they all rubbed off
'cause I happen to think wagons are cool! Real wagons like this, that is.
This particular wagon represents the last of the
full-size, rear-wheel-drive Oldsmobile wagons as they were discontinued after the 1992
model year after just 4,347 were built. (Compare that to 13,400 Caprice wagons
& 11,019 Roadmaster wagons that year.) It's also special just because it's
an Oldsmobile; the division that GM is phasing out after more than 100 years of
building cars. An extinct model manufactured by a soon to be extinct
company.
Our wagon was optioned well from the factory making for a cushy
ride:

I'll
find many uses for the wagon, like a Dremel tool on wheels. Need plywood
and fence posts? No problem. Going to the junkyard after car parts? Cake
walk. Don't want to mess up Mom's Expedition? Got it covered.
Oh...can't forget
about the best part. This Hot Rod set us back a whopping $2850!

My first few tanks of gas
have yielded mileage of 19.5 MPG. Not bad for a big barge.
