In Drag Battle
Memphian Herb McCandless will match race his 1968 hemi Dodge Dart against
Texan Ted DeTar's hemi Barracuda today at Lakeland Drag Strip.
McCandless is on a super stock victory string stretching from St. Louis,
Gary, Ind., and Bloomington, Ill. It will be the first time he has
raced in the Mid-South this season.
In
another top duel, Don Cook and his South Wind Too, AA-Fuel dragster will
challenge Ray Godman's Tennessee Bo-Weevil in a best-of -three,
210-miles-per-hour battle.
Funny car action pits Dickie Harrel's Camaro and the Sites' Brothers
'Bear-A-Cuda' supercharged, nitroburner.
The drag strip will open at 8:30 a.m. for runs and qualifications, while the
feature schedule will begin at 2:30 p.m.
