Jim Liberman In His Supercharged
427 Chevrolet
Ranked
Cars Are Matched At Lakeland
Two
nationally ranked cars will be involved in a winner take all $3,000 race at
the Lakeland Strip tommorow.
Jim
Liberman will drive his supercharged 427 Chevrolet in competition with the
Stone-Woods-Cook 427 Mustang.
The
Liberman car's elapsed time during the last six weeks has been seven seconds
at more than 190 miles per hour. Liberman, of San Jose, Calif., won
four of the last six championship events he has entered.
A
September accident at Acton, Ill. ended the Stone-Woods-Cook team's national
championship ambitions last year. Doug Cook, the driver, is back at
the wheel after recovering from the injuries for six months.
The
new Ford, which is based in Los Angeles, has exceeded 190 miles per hour.
More
than 300 gassers, stockers and hot rods also will be competing for trophies,
prizes and cash. A powder puff event for the ladies driving pure
stocks only also is scheduled.
The
Lakeland gates will open at 8 a.m. with feature race and eliminations
starting at 2 p.m.
The
Lakeland Strip is on Interstate 40 at the Canada Exit.
