Blue Max Charges
   To Lakeland Win 

   Jake Johnson, driving Harry Smith's Blue Max, claimed first place in yesterday's Funny Car faceoff before 1,500 at Lakeland International Raceway.

   The noted Dallas driver nipped Shirl Greer for top honors in the six-car pairoff.  Johnson's top ET was :07.84 at 197.36 miles per hour.

   Eliminator honors went to Jim Lockhart (2); John Wamberth (3), Bob Short (4) and Ronnie Stocks (4).

   The results:
   FIRST ROUND: Invader Corvette vs. Chris the Greek (won by Chris in :07.98 at 179.29)  .  .  .  Invader has :08.52 at 152.54;  Shirl Greer vs. Curtis Wasson (won by Greer in :07.67 at 190.26)  .  .  .  Wasson had :08.04 at 188.67;  Blue Max vs. Super Camaro, won by Blue Max, :08.12 at 158.24  .  .  .  Super Camaro had :08.45 at 148.50.
   SECOND ROUND:  Invader Corvette vs. Shirl Greer (won by Greer in :07.57 at 192.5)  .  .  .  Invader had :07.92 at 180;  Chris the Greek vs. Super Camaro (won by Chris in :08.10 at 178.17)  .  .  .  Super Camaro broke;  Curtis Wasson vs. Blue Max (won by Blue Max in :07.53 at 167.89)  .  .  .  Wasson turned :07.98 at 170.
