Blue Max Charges
To Lakeland Win
Jake Johnson, driving Harry Smith's Blue Max, claimed first place in
yesterday's Funny Car faceoff before 1,500 at Lakeland International
Raceway.
The noted Dallas driver nipped Shirl Greer for top honors in the six-car
pairoff. Johnson's top ET was :07.84 at 197.36 miles per hour.
Eliminator honors went to Jim Lockhart (2); John Wamberth (3), Bob Short (4)
and Ronnie Stocks (4).
